When you look in the face of Amina, a 78 years old woman, you will be surprised. You can see her teeth, but you can’t see her nose or her eyes. Her face seemed to have been covered inside itself.
She was born with this problem, and it had been difficult for her to communicate how she felt to others. She acknowledges that as she has matured, she has learned to accept her impairment as God’s plan. She decided to accept her situation when she was baptized.
But her story is difficult. When her parents saw her condition, they tried to get her advanced treatment of that time but failed, until Amina went to live alone.
Surprising herself, she got a man who came in to marry her, though she had never expected it.
The man married and the two lived together, but later came to divorce for reasons which are not connected to Amina’s disability.
After the divorce, Amina developed different health problems, especially on her leg which got hurt.
As she recounts her story, those health problems took her to the real hell and she lived there, until when she came back.
“I went to hell, I was there, when I came back I had lost my senses and was unable to see, even my ears are half dead, if you don’t speak loud, I can;t hear you,” she declared.
Her life is difficult as she recounts, especially because of the isolation she faces from her community.
“When I walked on the street, people would laugh at me, they always got scared seeing such a person, some thought I was some kind of wild beast, and they would run away from me yet I am just a person like them,” she says.
She wanted someone to walk by her side so she wouldn’t run into problems, and Aman was that person. Amina helped this middle-aged man when she was younger, and he had always remembered it, which is why he is assisting him today.
He goes to the street with her and takes care of everything she needs.
When her story was published , a lot of people donated money to help this old woman, and Aman was the main guy who was responsible for that. The main thing needed is to repair the old house of this woman, whose roof leak water when it rains.
