Homa Bay UDA party official and Ruto’s staunch supporter, Odoyo Owidi, was reportedly admitted to the hospital after taking juice at a meeting chaired by ODM National Chairperson Governor Gladys Wanga. This incident has raised concerns and reportedly Odoyo claims he was poisoned at the meeting, which prompted him to be admitted to the hospital. At the hospital, doctors conducted a toxicology test to determine the cause of his condition.
Odoyo is a well-known and staunch supporter of President William Ruto and is among the senior UDA party officials in the Nyanza region. The Nyanza region is considered a stronghold of Raila Odinga, making Odoyo’s position and loyalty to Ruto significant. Ruto appointed him to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency, a position that highlights his importance in the party. As a senior party official, Odoyo’s incident has been closely monitored, and his admission to the hospital has been attributed to the alleged poisoning at the meeting chaired by Governor Gladys Wanga.
