Hussein Shaban was a healthy husband who had been working hard to build his young family. He was a motorcyclist, and this hard job brought him to the gate of death.
One night, this 27-year-old man was driving two passengers to a nearby town during a stormy night. Then, a terrible accident took place. Shaban and his passengers were severely injured when a second motorcycle sped up from the opposite side of the street.
Shaban was hit so severely by the collision that he lost control of his bike and tumbled a short distance, suffering the most damage. When his wife arrived at the scene and was asked to assist, she saw her husband lying unconscious.
She hurried him to the hospital, but it was too small for his condition, so he was sent to a larger facility. He was given heavy treatment by a large number of doctors and was immediately admitted to the emergency room.
“Early the next morning, doctors came and told me they have removed part of his skull because of the damage that had happened to his brain,” she says
“He was in a coma and doctors said that when he woke up, he might not remember everything that had happened to him before. They told me that there is a good chance of surviving. But they warned me that he was using expensive oxygen and he would continue to use it for some time,” she added.
His health was so bad that the hospital administration forbade anyone, even his wife, from seeing him. But after much pleading, the doctors agreed to let her see him, and she was horrified to discover that he was entirely asleep and still receiving food through the tube.
After extensive treatment, he was eventually released; however, his head’s shape had changed, and he could not perform any other basic functions by himself, including talking and eating.
He now relies on his wife who has to sell fish on the road, and a Samaritan neighbor who comes along to help her handle him. He urinates and suffocates on himself and his wife is the only one who has to take care of him, with all those responsibilities.
She is now begging anyone who can help her to do so. She is supposed to pay for her costly and dependable treatments, medicine, and other necessities like diapers and everything else he needs.
