Calvin Nyakundi: Best KCPE student Ever Who Scored 482 Marks, Career Path He Took
In 2003, Marita Nyakundi Calvin hit the headlines after scoring 482 marks out of 500 in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
This was the highest marks ever, a record that has not been broken to date.
Nyakundi was followed closely by Ogendi Moraa Rose who score 481 marks out of the possible 500 marks.
Interestingly, the two top students came from the same school, Busara Forest View Academy in Nyandarua.

Nyakundi was not a top performer in school and he was initially always at the bottom, forcing him to enroll for a course called Setting Myself for Success.
“I was in Standard Five and lagging at the bottom of the class, always among the last 10 pupils. After the training, I moved to the top five in Standard Six

“I sat for my KCPE in 2003 and was the best candidate countrywide, scoring 482 out of 500 marks,” he said in a past interview.
Secondary school and university
Nyakundi proceeded to join Starehe Boys Center and enrolled at the University oF Nairobi after completion of his secondary school education.
He pursued a Bachelor of Medicine at UoN and graduated from the top-ranked institution.
Following his graduation, Nyakundi was licensed to work in the country by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
He joined Nairobi Women’s Hospital in August 2021 where he has been serving as a medical officer.

Busara Forest View Academy
Situated in Nyahururu, Nyandarua County, Busara Forest View Academy has been in existence for over 37 years.

The school consists of three sections; Early Childhood Education, Junior School and Senior School.
The school also has a counselling program where learners are given an opportunity to express their issues but also to air their views on matters regarding the school.

The school is headed by Alice Ingutia who has been the school’s head teacher since April 2018.
She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Nairobi where she studied from 2015 to 2019.
